“How do I get to Carnegie Hall?” a naive newcomer to NYC once asked of a passerby. The New Yorker looked at the newcomer and the violin case he was clutching. “Practice, practice, practice!” came the response.

Now is your chance to practice. In fact, you could bring a picnic, spend the day, and practice for three different dog sports this coming Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Yellowstone Dog Sports.

What’s Happening and When?

10 AM, Saturday

Starting at 10 AM on the turf at the main building, you can take part in some agility run-throughs. The cost is $5 per dog, or $15 per dog if you are not yet a member of BACM.

11 AM

At 11 o’clock Saturday morning, Esther Wynne will guide all comers through Obedience practice. She will assign dogs to 15-minute slots to practice at their level. Please contact Esther as soon as you read this to get on the schedule with her. The cost is $5 per dog or $15 per dog if you are not yet a member of BACM.

1 PM

As if the foregoing it not enough, at 1 PM, Mary Ann Norman will offer Rally run-thoughs to all who are interested. Message Mary Ann message as soon as you read this with what level your team is competing at, she’ll block out times based on that, and contact you with your time slot(s). Mary Ann plans to nest some of the signs so people can have a few different run-throughs without re-setting the whole course. The cost is $5 per dog or $15 per dog if you are not yet a member of BACM.

Cost

Those of you who are mathematically on the ball probably have already realized already that participating in everything on offer will come at the low cost of $15 (or $45 if you’re not yet a member. But we have a deal for you!

  • Sign up for any single run-through at $5 ($15 if you are not yet a member) per dog.
  • Sign up for two run-throughs and invest only $10 ($30) per dog.
  • Sign up for both Agility and Rally at the rate set up for just one: $5 ($15 if you are not yet a member) per dog.
  • Sign up for all three run-throughs for the discounted rate of $10 ($30). Now that’s a deal and a half!

“Oh, boy!” you say. “I am ready! What do I do?”

How to Sign Up

If you are coming for Agility, show up between 9 and 10 in the morning, and be ready to pitch in to assist with any remaining course setting chores. There will be an envelope or jar into which you can deposit your money. Rally will wrap up in plenty of time to allow Rally to set up and begin at 1 in the afternoon.

If you are coming for Rally, send a quick note to Mary Ann Norman to tell her what level of Rally your team is working on. She will reply with a time slot that fits with your difficulty level. Then just show up a little before your scheduled time (or a lot before your scheduled time if you want to hang out and visit). Drop your fee in the envolope or jar provided.

If you are coming for Obedience, send a brief note to Esther Wynne for an obedience time slot. It’s helpful if you also tell her what level obedience your team is practicing. She will reply with a 15-minute time slot between 11 and 2 for you. Show up any time after 10 am but before your schedued slot. Drop your fee in the envelope for Obedience.

“I want to bring more than one dog! Is that okay?” you may be wondering. You are welcome to bring as many of your dogs as you currently are working with. BACM will accept all dogs for practice until the time slots are completely filled.

Remember that the peer-mentors are volunteers offering the run-thoughs out of the goodness of their hearts and to support BACM’s variety of dog sports.
